Julie Gavin
Associate Principal
PGAL
Julie has almost 30 years in the architectural industry – 26 of which were devoted to aviation projects. She has worked on airports across the country and internationally, but a majority of her focus has been at DFW International Airport. Throughout the courseof her career, she has completed significant work at every terminal on thecampus, as well as auxiliary buildings around the airfield. Since joining PGAL in 2017, she has helped PGAL create a stronghold in the aviation market within the DFW metroplex; notably working on several of DFW and Love Field’s recentsignature projects.
Julie has played a key role in advancing modular construction methodologies across DFW’s major capital programs, most notably the Terminal C High C Gates redevelopment and the ongoing Terminal F expansion. As Design Project Manager for the High C Gates project, she helped pioneer one of the first large-scale modular concourses in the United States. The project replaced an aging facility with a nearly 80,000-square-foot, two-level terminal constructed from prefabricated modules that were assembled off-site and transported across active runways for installation. Her leadership contributed to the successful coordination of multidisciplinary teams, enabling simultaneous off-site fabrication and on-site construction—significantly accelerating delivery while maintaining uninterrupted airport operations.
Parlaying the success of Terminal C, Julie is currently the Design Project Manager for Phase 1 of the DFW Terminal F program—a transformative expansion that leverages modular construction at an unprecedented scale. The new terminal, was originally planned as a 400,000-square-foot domestic concourse with 15 aircraft gates. Subsequently it has been reimagined as Phase 1 of an expansive multi-phase International Terminal that, on opening day, will house 16 narrow bodies or a mix of 13 narrow and wide body aircraft. The project also includes the design and construction of a Skylink Station which has been integrated onto an existing elevated Skylink track. Using modular construction for both the Terminal and Skylink projects continues the evolution of prefabricated delivery strategies, improving speed, safety, and operational flexibility.
Throughout her career, Julie has demonstrated expertise in managing complex aviation projects within constrained, high-traffic environments. Her contributions have helped establish modular design as a viable and scalable solution for next-generation airport infrastructure, positioning DFW as a global leader in innovative terminal development.
