Committees

Membership Committee

The Membership Committee is the welcoming face of DBIA-SW — and one of the most impactful places you can volunteer. This committee leads efforts to recruit new members, retain existing ones, and ensure every member feels connected to the value of DBIA. If you love people and believe in the power of community, this committee is for you.

NextGen Committee

Are you 35 or under and looking for a place to connect, grow, and lead? The NextGen Committee is designed specifically for emerging design-build professionals who want to build their networks, develop their skills, and make a mark on the industry early in their careers. Volunteers plan networking events, support university outreach, mentor student members, and champion the DBIA-SW Scholarship Fund. This is your crew.

Outreach & Education Committee

The Outreach & Education Committee expands the visibility, influence, and educational impact of DBIA-Southwest Region. The committee plans and delivers member programs and events — including CEU-eligible Design-Build Done Right® education and “what is design-build” content — and leads the Region’s outreach and content hub support so the Region’s story and expertise reach members, Owners, and prospective partners.

Chapter Steering Committees

Houston Steering Committee

The Houston Chapter Steering Committee brings together local industry leaders to advance DBIA's mission right here in the Houston area. As a volunteer, you'll help guide chapter strategy, plan educational and networking events, engage with universities and student chapters, and connect with the broader AEC community. If you're passionate about growing design-build in one of the nation's most active construction markets, this is your committee.

Tulsa Steering Committee

The Tulsa Chapter Steering Committee is building momentum in northeast Oklahoma, and they need dedicated volunteers to help lead the way. Committee members support local event planning, member engagement, student outreach, and legislative awareness. If you're based in the Tulsa area and want to help grow a thriving local design-build community, consider lending your time and expertise here.

Task Forces

Legal and Legislative Task Force

Design-build doesn't just happen on job sites — it happens in statehouses and city councils too. The Legal and Legislative Task Force monitors and advances legislation that supports design-build delivery across the Southwest Region. Volunteers track legislative developments, collaborate with public officials and owner groups, coordinate with DBIA National, and report to membership on emerging legal trends. If you have a background in law, policy, or public affairs — or simply a strong interest in advocacy — this task force is where your voice matters most.

Water/Wastewater Sector Task Force

Water and wastewater infrastructure is a critical and growing area for design-build, and this task force is at the forefront of that work. Volunteers monitor regulatory and market issues, collaborate with the Programs Committee to develop sector-specific educational content, support legislative advocacy, and help plan the annual Water/Wastewater University Program. If you work in or around the water sector, your expertise is exactly what this group needs.
