Day One: VDC Planning for Design-Build (October 14)
The series kicks off with VDC Planning, the foundational course that builds your business case for VDC implementation on design-build projects. You'll walk through how to identify the right BIM Use Cases, understand what the Owner actually cares about, and start building a VDC Execution Plan your whole team can rally around. This course is designed for VDC and non-VDC professionals alike, because the truth is, VDC success depends on more than just your VDC lead — it takes the whole design-build team pulling in the same direction.
By the end of the day, you'll be able to:
Identify the keys to VDC Planning success on design-build projects
Articulate the value VDC brings to design-build delivery
Document the people, processes and technologies your team needs to implement VDC effectively
Day Two: VDC Execution for Design-Build (October 15)
Day two builds directly on that foundation. VDC Execution takes a deeper look at how design-build teams put their VDC Execution Plan into practice — from applying Level of Development (LOD) to clarify deliverable responsibilities, to reviewing real-world VDC performance metrics and the technology trends shaping where collaborative delivery is headed next.
You'll leave with the tools to:
Define the Owner's model and information needs from the start
Identify contract language strategies that keep designers and trade partners aligned with VDC objectives
Apply the LOD Specification across the design-construction-operations continuum
