Building Futures: Apply for the 2025 DBIA Southwest Region Scholarships by June 30!

The Design-Build Institute of America's Southwest Region (DBIA-SW) is committed not only to constructing impressive projects but also to nurturing the future luminaries of the design-build industry. In this spirit, we are excited to unveil our 2025 scholarship program, designed to bolster the careers of students, educators, and young professionals within our vibrant community.


Who Can Apply?

Our scholarships cater to three dynamic groups within the Southwest Region, covering Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Texas, and New Mexico:

  1. Undergraduate Students: If you are a junior or senior majoring in Architecture, Civil/Construction Engineering, or Construction Management, and have a GPA of 3.0 or higher, you are eligible to apply for a $5,000 scholarship.

  2. Faculty Members: Faculty actively teaching in an accredited Architecture, Engineering, or Construction program, or those serving as representatives for a DBIA student chapter, can apply for a $2,000 grant to enhance design-build curriculum and certification.

  3. Young Professionals: Are you under 35 and aiming to secure your DBIA certification? This scholarship offers you a head start with financial support totaling $1,000.

Each scholarship is a stepping stone towards not just achieving personal academic and professional goals but also contributing to the broader industry's innovation and efficiency.



 


How to Apply?


UNDERGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP

Requirements for Eligibility:

  • Declared major in Architecture, Civil/Construction Engineering, or Construction Management/Sciences at a college or university in the Southwest Region (Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Texas, or New Mexico).

  • Be a Junior or Senior with a 3.0 or higher GPA at an accredited college or university in the Southwest Region.


The application form and the following items must be submitted:

  • A short essay demonstrating an understanding of design-build delivery methods.

  • A letter of recommendation from university faculty.

  • A copy of your most recent transcript.


Important Dates and Information:

  • One (1) $5,000 scholarship will be awarded.

  • The application period begins on March 31, 2025, and ends on June 30, 2025.

  • The scholarship winner will be announced in August 2025.

  • Funds will be distributed to the school for the Fall 2025 semester.




 
FACULTY GRANT

Requirements for Eligibility:

  • EITHER a faculty member of an accredited Architecture, Engineering, or Construction program within the Southwest Region (Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Texas, or New Mexico), OR the faculty representative for the DBIA student chapter at their school.

  • Funds must be used for DBIA Certification Workshop, Educator Workshop, DBIA Continuing Education, other DBIA curriculum dues, or a Student Chapter event to qualify.


The application form and the following items must be submitted:

  • A short essay discussing ways you will use the funds to incorporate design-build into your curriculum.


Important Dates and Information:

  • One (1) $2,000 scholarship will be awarded.

  • The application period begins on March 31, 2025, and ends on June 30, 2025.

  • The grant winner will be announced in August 2025




 

YOUNG PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATION SCHOLARSHIP

Requirements for Eligibility:

  • Young Professional (35 years or younger) seeking design-build certification in the Southwest Region (Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Texas, or New Mexico).

  • Application form and letter of recommendation must be submitted.


Important Dates and Information:

  • One (1) $1,000 scholarship will be awarded.

  • The application period begins on March 31, 2025, and ends on June 30, 2025.

  • The scholarship winner will be announced in August 2025.

  • The winner will receive $500 upfront to help cover the cost of DBIA certification, with the remaining $500 disbursed upon proof of DBIA certification.
