About the Event
This session cover the pros and cons of the two different Design-Build methods from the unique perspectives of the Design Professional and General Contractor. Each speaker will share personal experiences from their respective roles on design-build projects. They will divulge specific best practices and lessons learned throughout their careers as design-build professionals. This crash course details the contrast of the two methods and will cover the advantages of a progressive design-build as well as highlight the potential pitfalls of the lump sum design-build method.
Aron Soto is a project engineer at MGC Contractors with over eight years of experience. He is a graduate of Texas A&M University - Kingsville with a degree in Civil Engineering.
Glenn Barin, P.E., PMP, CCM, DBIA has more than 33 years of experience performing multiple roles with increasing responsibility on water and wastewater projects across the U.S. He has developed expertise in the past 18 years solely in planning and executing design-build project delivery of over one-billion dollars in capital improvement projects and has led projects and teams recognized nationally by DBIA and CMAA. He was the project manager for the Corona Del Mar WTP project that was a highlighted case study in the WDBC’s first edition of “The Municipal Water and Wastewater Design-Build Handbook.”
