Matt Hemsath is a career railroad construction leader with eight freight, commuter rail, and light rail transit construction projects on his resume. In the last 16 years, he has worked on a total of $2.5 billion worth of projects that has positively impacted the communities that they serve. With each project, Matt’s responsibility has increased, from beginning his career as a Project Engineer on a $75M light rail project, to his latest completed $492M commuter rail project where he served as a Construction Project Manager.
Most recently, Matt serves as the Senior Project Manager on the $1.9B DART Silver Line Regional Rail Design-Build Project. This is a new 26-mile commuter rail line that extends from Dallas Fort Worth International Airport’s (DFWIA) Terminal B to Shiloh Road Station in Plano. Matt manages the design and construction of the overall project.
Matt has also been instrumental in several other railroad projects, including the Trinity Metro’s $492M TEXrail Project in Fort Worth, TX; the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority’s $1.2B Silver Line Phase 2 design-build project in Dulles, VA; CSX Transportation’s $43M Arkendale Third Track Design-Build project in Stafford, VA; LA Metro’s $486M Gold Line Foothill Pasadena to Azusa Design-Build project in Irwindale, CA; Utah Transit Authority’s $434 West Valley Trax Line and Airport Light Rail Trax in Salt Lake City, UT; Valley Metro’s $7%M Line Section 1 project in Phoenix, AZ.
Matt brings more than just his project experience to the industry. He is also a registered Professional Engineer. He received this certification during the TEXRail project to better understand design and contractibility to deliver a quality project to Trinity Metro. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mining Engineering from the University of Nevada, Reno.
