“Successful Application of Design-Build for Tunneling Projects”

Tuesday, August 13, 2019 • 11:30 am – 1:00 pm
The HESS Club • 5430 Westheimer Road • Houston, TX 77056

**Great news! Due to the popularity of this topic we have moved to a larger room with a limited number of additional seats now available.

Design-Build for tunneling projects is radically different as compared to above-ground construction. Tunneling requires the creation of subsurface space inside of which the finished facility will be constructed and much of the cost and most the risk for a tunneling project is related to the creation of that space. Hence, a clear understanding of the ground conditions in which the tunnel will be constructed is of paramount importance to project success. Other issues associated with successful Design-Build for tunneling projects such as team structure, project procurement, design development, and construction-phase considerations will also be discussed during this presentation. *Approved for 1.0 hour of DBIA credit.
